John JR RobinsonJust after Peter Retzlaff, we’ve got another event coming up! On Monday, April 20, studio legend John JR Robinson is coming to Columbus Percussion for a clinic. John is the most recorded drummer of all time, and should put on a great show. The drumming great got his break playing on Michael Jackson’s Off The Wall, and he’s never looked back. John’s catalog includes hits by Lionel Richie, the Pointer Sisters, David Lee Roth, Steve Winwood, Madonna, Natalie Cole, Eric Clapton, Quincy Jones, Ray Charles, and more! He’ll be playing the new Yamaha Phoenix kit with his signature snare. This should be an amazing clinic.

Important Information:
Monday April 20th, at Columbus Percussion
8:00 PM
Tickets are $5

Be there!

He holds a Masters Degree from Manhattan School of Music, and has studied with such greats as David Garibaldi, Gary Chaffee, John Riley, Ed Soph and Billy Hart. He has performed with Maynard Ferguson, and pianist Kenny Werner as well as Diane Schuur and Greg Osby. He maintains an active private teaching schedule, instructing classes in jazz, funk, rock, reggae, fusion, odd times, reading, rudiments, independence and ensemble performance at the Drummers Collective in New York. Drum Daze 2009Thanks to all the artists, companies, and especially drummers who made this year’s Drum Daze possible! It was a little hectic at times, but we had a great lineup and an even better turnout. We’d like to thank Felix Pollard, Mike White, Tommy Aldridge, Terry Bozzio, Ralph Peterson Jr., and all the companies who made it possible for these guys to come out and show you what they can do. We really had a great time, and we hope you did as well. We’re just getting over this Drum Daze, and we can’t wait until the next one!

Drum CircleOur apologies to the drummer faithful; tonight’s drum circle (01/05/2009) has been cancelled due to everyone being sick. We expect everyone in the Greater Columbus area (if not Ohio) to be sick tonight around 8:00 P.M. If you’re not sick already, you may want to leave work early to prepare…being sick. Go Buckeyes!
